CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

      1. Entries close on Monday 26 February 2024 at 9am, unless the City of Armadale decides at its sole discretion to extend the period for the acceptance of entries upon which the City of Armadale will determine a new date and time for the closure of entries. The City will advise the revised closure of entries date (if needed) on the Armadale Arts Festival website and the City’s Facebook page. Late submissions will not be accepted.
      2. Entries will be accepted online at www.armadaleartsfestival.com.au/minnawarraart-awards or by submission of this completed form to the City of Armadale, Minnawarra Art Awards, 7 Orchard Avenue, Armadale WA 6112.
      3. Cost of entry is $34.10 (GST inc) per artist (maximum two artworks per artist). Fees paid are administrative costs and are non-refundable.
      4. The Minnawarra Art Awards is open to all artists residing in Western Australia.
      5. The competition is open to any medium.
      6. 2D artworks are to be a maximum of 1.5m H x 1.5m W and must not exceed 15kgs in weight. Artworks must be dry and fitted with two D-rings, 4cm from the top of the work. The work will be hung from these, not from wire, string, tape or other.
      7. 3D artworks are to be a maximum of 1.5m H x 0.7m W x 0.7m D and must not exceed 20kg in weight. The City of Armadale will provide basic plinths to display works.
      8. Acceptance of artworks larger than the maximum dimensions noted above is at the discretion of the Curator and is to be agreed on prior to submission.
      9. True diptych or multiples will be accepted at the discretion of the Curator.
      10. Work must be suitably presented for the exhibition. Should specific display requirements be needed the artist is to supply this.
      11. All submissions are to include a statement about the artwork submitted of not more than 100 words, and at least one high resolution image of completed artwork (JPEG between 1-2mb) is required with this submission. Please remember to label your artwork statement and image with your name and title of artwork as you would like it to appear in the catalogue.
      12. Any artist represented by a gallery must state the name of their gallery on the entry form to have the gallery acknowledged through the catalogue.
      13. All artwork must be available for display and sale for the duration of the exhibition. The City will not charge any commission on sold artwork.
      14. Tax Requirements:
        • Artists who have an ABN and are registered for GST must include the GST amount in the total sale price. Artists who have an ABN and are not registered for GST must not include GST in the total sale price.
        • Artists who do not have an ABN must provide a signed ‘Statement by Supplier’ form with the relevant section ticked. Failure to do so will require the City of Armadale to withhold 48.5% of the retail price.
      15. All artwork must be the original work of the submitting artist and produced within the last 12 months. Artwork cannot be copied or referenced either wholly or in part from an external article.
      16. Artwork featuring any form of cultural appropriation will not be accepted to exhibit.       17. If your work references a specific person, place, or story of cultural significance, you may be requested to provide a release form with permission.
      18. The artist agrees that the City of Armadale reserves the right to reproduce work (in part or whole) in print, film or digital format for promotion, education, and documentation in association with the exhibition.
      19. The City of Armadale accepts no responsibility for damage, loss, fire, theft, or vandalism to the submitted artwork. Artists indemnify the City with respect to any damage, loss, fire, theft, or vandalism (unless such damage is deliberately inflicted by an employee or agent of the City of Armadale). Artists are advised to obtain their own insurance.
      20. The Curator reserves the absolute right to select or not select any artwork for presentation in the Minnawarra Art Awards.
      21. The Curator’s and judges’ decisions are final, and no further correspondence will be entered into.
      22. The City will acquire three artworks by exchange for the cash value noted in the awards, these artworks will become part of the City of Armadale Art Collection. Artists will need to identify the acquisition prizes they want to be considered for on their entry form. If the sale price of the artwork is priced higher than the cash award offered, the award will not be increased to this amount. Alternatively, if the sale price of the artwork is less than the award offered by the City, the City will still pay the full award amount.
      23. To be eligible for the Local Artist Award you must be a local resident of the City of Armadale and be able to confirm that if required.
      24. To be eligible for the Aboriginal Artist Award you must be of Aboriginal descent and be able to confirm that if required.
      25. All awards, aside from the People’s Choice Award, will be announced at the Opening Night on Friday 3 May 2024.
      26. The People’s Choice Award will run for the duration of the exhibition and be announced via the City of Armadale Facebook event page within 14 days of the closure of the exhibition.
      27. The People’s Choice Award will award one artist with a $100 gift card and one random voter with a $100 gift card. Both will be advised by phone or email within 14 days of the closure of the exhibition.
      28. Following the exhibition presented at the Armadale District Hall, exhibited artworks will also be published through two online exhibitions, via the Artist’s Chronicle and Armadale Arts Festival websites. Sales will not be taken from these online exhibitions, with any enquiries being directed to the artists.
      29. City of Armadale staff are encouraged to enter the Awards. However, they must have no involvement in the organisation or running of the event and they must not liaise with the Curator or judges.


      KEY DATES

      • Delivery of artwork: Monday 29 April 2024 between 4 and 6pm
      • Awards Night: Friday 3 May 2024, time will be advised on invitation. All selected artists will be invited.
      • Exhibition details: 4 to 19 May 2024, 11am – 4pm at the Armadale District Hall
      • Collection of unsold artwork: Sunday 19 May 2024 between 5 and 7pm, or Monday 20 May 2024 between 9 and 11am.


      ARTWORK SALES 

      No commission will be charged on sales of artwork through the Minnawarra Art Awards. Sales will be processed by the City of Armadale, the artist notified and requested to provide additional information i.e. ABN or Statement by Supplier form, and the artist will be paid following the close of the exhibition.

      ENTRY DETAILS

      Forms are to be submitted and entry fee paid either online via the Armadale Arts Festival website (www.armadaleartsfestival.com.au/minnawarra-art-awards) or in person at the City of Armadale, Minnawarra Art Awards, 7 Orchard House, Armadale WA 6112.       Extensions Exhibition

      This year the City of Armadale is pleased to be collaborating with the Armadale Society of Artists to present a community art exhibition called Extensions, which will run alongside the Minnawarra Art Awards (MAA).

      Those that enter the MAA are also invited to showcase one artwork through Extensions should it not be selected for the MAA. To accept this offer artists must acknowledge their intentions on the MAA entry form and note the title of the artwork that they will exhibit.

      Extensions is not a curated exhibition and will be presented by the Armadale Society of Artists at the Armadale Arena. The artworks will be on display from Saturday 11 May 2024 until Sunday 19 May 2024. Viewers will be invited to enter a People’s Choice Award which will be announced after the exhibition closes.

      CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

      1. Entries to Extensions are to adhere to the attached Minnawarra Art Awards Conditions of Entry.
      2. Extensions will be organised and run by the Armadale Society of Artists at the Armadale Arena, 4 Townley Street, Armadale, WA.
      3. Only the artists that acknowledge their intentions to exhibit in Extensions and identify one artwork to be exhibited on the Minnawarra Art Awards Entry Form will be eligible to participate in Extensions.
      4. By entering Extensions, you agree that the City can release your contact details and details of your selected artwork to the Armadale Society of Artists for them to liaise with you directly regarding Extensions.
      5. Only artists that are not accepted for the Minnawarra Art Awards are eligible to exhibit in Extensions.
      6. Artists can only enter one artwork into Extensions, if this section is left blank in the MAA Entry Form this will void your entry.
      7. The artist agrees that the Armadale Society of Artists and the City of Armadale reserves the right to reproduce work (in part or whole) in print, film or digital format for promotion, education, and documentation in association with the exhibition.

      10. The People’s Choice Award will award one Artist with a $500 cash prize and one random voter with a $100 cash prize. Both will be advised by phone or email on Wednesday 22 May 2024.
