City of Armadale Art Collection
3 May at 8.30 am - 4.00 pm
An event every week that begins at 8.30 am on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, repeating until 19 May 2019
The collection of works on display have been selected from the City of Armadale Art Collection and curated by renowned gallery owner and artist Ron Nyisztor.
Considerations were made to contribute to the ambience of the Greendale Centre as a community hub involving people in diverse activities and states of mindfulness. The dining room at the Centre hosts more traditional style pastoral and typical landscape paintings, ranging from early 20th century to more recent. These paintings engage viewers with vistas of the former Armadale surrounds and some idyllic destinations of Western Australia. The large and extensive walls in the main hall and theatre, including the annexe and entry areas, showcase numerous larger works highlighting the creative depth and vibrancy of the collection, where many well-known Western Australian practitioners are represented. The placement of works in this space and the games room use similarities and differences in paintings to create rhythm and conversation between the works. Varied subjects, techniques and approaches begin to relate and support each other, either by contrasts or with surprising relationships.
