Classic Sounds Orchestra by Candlelight
It is always special to bring famous original versions of classical works to audiences from our hometown.
Classic Sounds Orchestra is so excited to be playing St Matthews for the first time and we have chosen a program of all the very best orchestral works that pass us by every day, and now we get to perform them live. These include the very famous 1st Movt of Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, the romantic despair of the 2nd movt of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7, the cheerful origins of Ireland with Lord of the Dance, and the bright feature of the Harp in Celestial Soda Pop. This is just to name a few. This will be a beautiful concert by Candlelight, not to be missed.
The program includes:
Concerto for Lute and orchestra in D major ‘s Vivaldi (David McManus, Classical Guitar),
Celestial Soda Pop ‘s Lynch (Monique Swaan, Harp),
Twinkle Stars performing Twinkle Twinkle, and French Folk Song,
1st movt Symphony No. 40 ‘s Mozart, 2nd movt Symphony No. 7 ‘s Beethoven,
2nd movt Clarinet Concerto ‘s Mozart (Callum Dale, Clarinet),
Romance in F major ‘s Beethoven (Rachel John, Violin),
Hungarian Dance No. 6 ‘s Brahms, Lord of the Dance ‘s Hardiman, Panis Angelicus ‘s Franck (Harp, Cello Oboe solos),
Fantasia on Greensleeves ‘s Vaughan Williams (Harp and Guitar) and Pavane ‘s Faure.
The Classic Sounds Orchestra by Candlelight continues the legacy of classical music concerts at St Matthew’s Anglican Church instigated by the late John Christmass OAM.
