Fantastic Realms Anthology Launch

18 May at 3.30 pm - 5.00 pm

Event Categories:
Free

Since the dawn of civilisation, humankind has enjoyed opportunities for storytelling, to weave a tapestry of characters, setting and drama to enchant audiences along the way. Readers of all ages, beguiled by tales from far-off lands, of heroes and heroines, delve into the author’s world with blind trust that they may be touched by the heart of the story, escape into another world, or dip into another time or place.

Two years ago, Inklings Writers’ Workshop began with a vision to bring together storytellers with a common passion and set them on a journey into their craft and to strive for success. They are proud to present Fantastic Realms, their second Anthology which challenged Inklings to stretch beyond their comfort zones. The stories within will carry you into other realms of fantasy, science-fiction, or mediaeval society. Even genres such as Steam Punk and Post-Apocalyptic find their place in this Anthology, which we hope you will enjoy.

Find out what happens when Father Time takes a holiday, or join the hunt to find shapeshifters. Indulge in a quest or two; meet characters such as a courageous dragon egg hunter, a hapless King, or a bunch of familiar figures in re-imagined fairy tales. Or perhaps, take a glimpse of life in a mutant-free future. Let these tales transport you into Fantastic Realms. Inklings Writers’ Workshop is a group open to writers of any genre.

The Inklings explore the writer’s craft, give and receive feedback on writing projects and support each other in achieving their writing goals. Inklings’ members share leadership of workshops and provide a vibrant forum of discussions, directions and reflections. Each fortnight they host workshops to explore an aspect of their craft and critique writing samples (impromptu and polished pieces), and every other week is for WIP, which stands for ‘work in progress’ and ‘write in peace’! In our WIP sessions they work on individual projects alongside supportive group members.

Now two years since inauguration, Inklings members have enjoyed success in public engagements, competitions, scholarships, publications and confidence in writing. Inklings meet weekly on Thursdays from 5.45pm to 7.45pm in Armadale Library’s Meeting Room, located in Armadale Central Shopping Centre, Shop 64/10 Orchard Avenue, Armadale.

Find Inklings Writers’ Workshop on Facebook, or email inklingswritersworkshop@gmail.com to find out more.

This group meets weekly on Wednesday mornings from 9.30 to 11.30am in the Armadale Library Meeting Room.

With special thanks to the City of Armadale Libraries.
