Music in the Valley – Matinee

1 May at 2.00 pm - 3.30 pm

Event Categories:
$15 – $20

The Pipe Organ was built circa 1760 and emulates music played in the courts of Europe. The Salon Orchestra captures music from around this era by performing Organ concerto in E-flat H446 by CPE Bach, Lute concerto RV93 by Vivaldi, and Brandenburg Concerto No 3 by JS Bach.

Joining the orchestra are guest soloists Liam Dekker on Pipe Organ, and David McManus on Classical Guitar. The program includes beautiful melancholic lines for Strings by Elgar, a cheerful polka by Johann Strauss, and features an original work by David McManus.

With lead violinist Heather Connan, Rachel John provides musical direction from the Cello, guiding the Salon Orchestra from the Classic Sounds Orchestra to provide a presentation that transports the audience to times past, giving interesting facts, and bringing to life this beautiful church known to us as Saint Mary in the Valley.

It is a joy for Rachel to bring a program each year that excites the musicians, and entertains music lovers who appreciate the artistry of live performance by local musical friends.

Presented by Classic Sounds Orchestra and proudly supported by the Kelvale Medical Group, Lotterywest, 2nd Chance Op Shop and Bendigo Bank.
